Two men have been jailed for killing a grandfather as he made his way to morning prayers in a racist attack.

Mushin Ahmed, who was 81, was attacked on his way to the mosque in Rotherham last August. He died 11 days later.

Dale Jones has been sentenced to life in prison. He will serve a minimum of 32 years. Mr Justice Males called him a 'racist thug'.

Damien Hunt has been sentenced to 14 years behind bars for manslaughter.

Mushin Ahmed's widow : Killers cruelly ended 50 years of marriage

The widow of 81 year old Mushin Ahmed from Rotherham has told a court that her husband's killers had cruelly ended their marriage of almost 50 years.

Mushin Ahmed died after being attacked on his way to early morning prayers in Rotherham last August.

Peggy Ahmed said:"I have the rest of my life to spend without my beloved husband and my pain and loss is almost indescribable."

She said her husband was a hero to the couple's 14 grandchildren.

Dale Jones will be sentenced shortly for his murder and Damien Hunt will be sentenced for manslaughter.
