Teacher stabbed at Bradford school says thank you
Vincent Uzomah, the teacher who was recently injured in a stabbing incident at Dixons Kings Academy in Bradford, has thanked well-wishers for their support.
In a statement issued through West Yorkshire Police, Mr Uzomah said: "I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude to God and to everyone for all the support that myself and family have received during the course of the traumatic event of my life. It has been 12 days since this event occurred and I thank the Lord Jesus for sparing my life."
He went on to thank doctors and nurses part of the NHS, and his work colleagues at Dixons Kings Academy and other schools across Yorkshire.
A 14-year-old has been charged with attempted murder in connection with the incident.
Teenager in court over teacher stabbing
A teenager has appeared in court this morning charged with attempted murder after a teacher was stabbed in the stomach.
The 14-year-old appeared at Bradford Magistrates' Court following the attack on 50-year-old Vincent Uzomah at Dixons Kings Academy in the West Yorkshire city.
The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, spoke only to confirm his name and address. A not guilty plea was indicated to the court for the charge of attempted murder.
The teenager was remanded in custody at a youth detention centre and will appear at Bradford Crown Court on 29 June.

School manages 'business as usual' after stabbing
A teenager has been charged with attempted murder after a teacher was stabbed in the stomach at a school in Bradford.
Staff insisted it was business as usual at Dixons Kings Academy today. Friends and colleagues of 50-year-old science teacher Vincent Uzomeh said they expected him to be back doing the job he loved as soon as possible. Sally Simpson reports.
Bradford school stabbing: 14-year-old charged with attempted murder
A 14 year old youth has been charged with attempted murder, the CPS announced today.
The charge arises following an incident on 11 June at Dixons Kings Academy, Bradford, in which a teacher was stabbed.
Martin Goldman, Chief Crown Prosecutor CPS Yorkshire and Humberside said:
"The Crown Prosecution Service has been working closely with West Yorkshire Police in connection with this case.
"Having carefully considered all of the evidence presented to us, we have concluded that there is sufficient evidence and that it is in the public interest to charge a 14-year-old youth with attempted murder.
"Accordingly I have today authorised West Yorkshire Police to charge the youth with this offence and he will first appear at Bradford Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
"This defendant has now been charged with a serious criminal offence and has the right to a fair trial. It is extremely important that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings."

Lessons to go on as teenager questioned over stabbing
Lessons at a school where a teacher was stabbed are expected to continue as normal today as police question a teenager over the attack.
Supply teacher Vincent Uzomah, 50, was stabbed in the stomach at Dixons Kings Academy in Bradford yesterday morning as he began a science lesson.
The teacher, who had been working at the school for a few weeks, was taken to hospital and was last night said to be in a stable, non-life threatening condition with his family by his bedside.
The attack led to a six-hour hunt for a 14-year-old boy who was later arrested in the city centre on suspicion of attempted murder.

Bradford MP 'deeply shocked' after teacher stabbing
Speaking about the ongoing hunt for a 14-year-old who allegedly stabbed a teacher, Bradford South MP Judith Cummins said: "The stabbing of a teacher at Dixons Kings Academy is deeply shocking.
"Clearly, one incident like this is one too many. Thankfully, incidents such as these are rare. But we mustn't be complacent. I will be meeting with the school and police as a matter of urgency as the safety of both staff and pupils is absolutely paramount."
