More than one million spectators turn out for Tour de Yorkshire

Around one and a half million spectators have watched the inaugural Tour de Yorkshire over the last three days.

The race, a spin off from the Tour de France and heralded a huge success by organisers, was won by Norwegian Lars Petter Nordhaug for Team Sky. Some of the world's top cyclists have been taking part - including Sir Bradley Wiggins who made his feelings clear about the region's steep hills.

Best of the action from Tour de Yorkshire Stage Three

Thousands lined the roads of Yorkshire to cheer on some of the world's top cyclists this weekend.

The overall winner was Team Sky's Lars Petter Nordhaug, but Stage Three was won by Belgian Ben Hermans.

Gary Verity: Tour de Yorkshire has been stunning

The chief executive of Welcome to Yorkshire says the first edition of the race has been "stunning".

Gary Verity was speaking following the final stage of the race which was won by Team Sky cyclist Lars Petter Nordhaug.

Christian Prudhomme, director of the ASO, said the weekend's race had a "fragrance of the Tour de France."
