James Woods beats pain barrier to make final
James Woods battled through the pain barrier to reach the final of the first ever Winter Olympics ski slopestyle in Sochi.
Woods, who is one of Britain's best prospects for a medal, suffered a hip injury last Friday after a fall in training and that has affected his preparation in the build-up to today's event.
He put down an excellent first run that earned him a score of 87.20, which was good enough to qualify for this afternoon's showpiece event in third place, on a warm morning at the Rosa Khutor Extreme Park.
However, there will be some concern that he pulled out of his next run after the second jump, appearing to clutch his hip.
