Lecturers have staged another 2-hour strike in their ongoing row over pay. Staff across Yorkshire,walked out at 9 o'clock this morning - after the latest talks over pay, pensions and job security failed to reach an agreement.

Closure threatened libraries get lifeline

Closure threatened libraries in Sheffield could have been thrown a financial lifeline today after the city council found more cash to help run them.

Plans to cut funding to over half of the city's libraries were announced last year sparking widespread protests. The council said it needed to save £1.6 million from the library budget because of Government cuts.

But now more money has been found. Martin Fisher is at the council to explain what's happened.

Lecturers in our region have staged another 2-hour strike today in their ongoing row over pay.

Staff across Yorkshire, including at Leeds University, walked out at 9 o'clock this morning - after the latest talks over pay, pensions and job security failed to reach an agreement. The University and College Union says pay for its members has fallen by 13 per cent in the last 5 years.
