Pickering flood defence work begins

Work on a flood defence scheme in Pickering in North Yorkshire began on Tuesday - six years after the town was hit by severe flash flooding.

Under the scheme, a storage reservoir near Pickering Beck will hold flood water, complementing existing measures such as natural dams and the planting of trees.

The project aims to slow the flow of water running into the town, as Rachel Townsend reports.
