Convicted killer found after going on the run
A convicted killer from Huddersfield who went on the run from an open prison last night has been recaptured.
Shakeil Shazad has served more than a decade behind bars for the manslaughter of eight members of the same family in a fire at their home.
Now the leader of Kirklees Council - a family friend of the victims - is demanding to know why Shazad was being kept in such a low security jail. Chris Kiddey reports.
Fire prisoner found and admitted to hospital
West Yorkshire Police have confirmed that Shakeil Shazad was admitted to hospital in Staffordshire last night.
He was jailed for manslaughter after a fire at a house in Birkby, Huddersfield in 2002, which killed three generations of the same family.
The 33-year-old was found in a confused state on a road and was later admitted to hospital.
At the time he was unable to provide his personal details, but officers confirmed his identity through a finger print test.
He is now being guarded by West Yorkshire officers who have been working with colleagues in Derbyshire.

Birkby fire prisoner located
It has been confirmed that a man who had gone on the run from prison, where he was serving a sentence for his part in a fatal house fire in Huddersfield, has been located.
Shakeil Shazad went missing yesterday from HMP Sudbury on a work license.
He was convicted of eight counts of manslaughter after a house fire in Birkby in 2002 killed three generations of the same family.
