South Yorkshire Police has reported a 17 per cent rise in shoplifting in the area. They are now releasing CCTV images of suspected thieves in a bid to tackle the problem.

There's been an alarming increase in the number of people stealing from shops in South Yorkshire. Retail crime has gone up by 17 percent in just a year.
Now police are fighting back against the thieves - by publishing mugshots of suspects with the help of shopkeepers - who say the crime is putting their livelihoods at risk.

Police release CCTV of suspected thieves as they reveal rise in shoplifting
South Yorkshire Police have released CCTV images of suspected shoplifters today in a bid to tackle a rise in retail crime.
There have been almost 500 extra offences so far this year across the county.
That’s an increase of 17% on the previous year.
Police would like to speak to the people shown in the CCTV stills as part of investigations into alleged shoplifting offences.
