Twins who killed Hull father-of-nine in row over drugs jailed
Twins who killed a father-of-nine in a row over a drug deal have been jailed.
Kailum and Kieran Nightingale, aged 26, forced their way into Shane Boxall's home in Alaska Street, Hull, on 25 April last year after he failed to hand over the drugs they wanted.
Kailum Nightingale punched the 44-year-old in the head while being encouraged by his brother, Hull Crown Court.
Mr Boxall, who had lost part of his skull following a previous operation, started fitting. He died in hospital two days later.
The brothers were cleared of murder but convicted of manslaughter.
Kailum Nightingale, of Poplar Grove, Hull, was jailed for 10 years. Kieran Nightingale, of Vermont Crescent, was locked up for nine years.
Judge John Thackray told them: "The consequences of your actions have been profound and are never-ending. He did not deserve to die, die such a violent and terrifying death, and his death is as tragic and unnecessary as that of anybody who is killed.
"Shane Boxall was much loved, indeed idolised by his siblings, children and grandchildren, who will never recover from his loss. No sentence I can impose can undo the damage you have done or lessen the pain to the loved ones of Shane Boxall."
The court heard the brothers broke into Mr Boxall's home after handing over £150 for drugs. They became "enraged" after he failed to hand over the drugs they believed they were owed.
Two women who witnessed the attack said the twins had "gone for" Mr Boxall. One of them told the brothers that Mr Boxall had "only half a head".
Kailum Nightingale was said to have replied: "I don't care. I will kill him."
