West Yorkshire Police officer charged with historic child sex offences
A police officer has been charged with raping a girl when he was a teenager.
PC Marcus Newbold, now aged 29 and based in Kirklees, has been charged with raping a girl under 13, along with multiple sexual assaults against the same girl and causing or inciting sexual activity.
The alleged offences happened from 2007, when he would have been 12, and 2011.
Newbold joined West Yorkshire Police in January 2021. The force said the alleged offences were reported in September 2022 and he had been suspended since then.
He is due to appear at Leeds Magistrates Court on Friday, 3 January.
