Man arrested over Christmas Day break-in in Hull

A man has been arrested after he was spotted wearing items stolen during a Christmas Day break-in.

Presents, televisions and other valuables were taken during the burglary at a house on Newstead Street, Hull, on 25 December.

Two high-value jackets and fishing equipment were also stolen.

A spokesperson for Humberside Police said: "Officers began conducting lines of enquiry including house to house alongside reviewing CCTV and doorbell footage.

"This morning (Tuesday 31 December), having made the report, the eagle-eyed resident spotted a man believed to be wearing belongings they had reported stolen."

A 46-year-old man was arrested at a property on Newstead Street on suspicion of conspiracy to burgle.

Police found a number of items thought to have been stolen from other homes in the area.

Insp Lucy Keevan said: “Officers continue to conduct lines of enquiry surrounding this report and other incidents whilst reviewing those items recovered."
