Woman dies after being spotted unconscious in Roundhay Park lake

The body of a woman has been pulled from a lake at one of Yorkshire's busiest parks.

Emergency services were called to Waterloo Lake at Roundhay Park, Leeds, after concerns were raised for the safety of a woman shortly after 6pm on Sunday, 29 December.

She was spotted unconscious in the lake.

Police and paramedics attended, but the woman was confirmed to have died a short time later.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "Enquiries are continuing to establish what happened. The death is not being treated as suspicious."

Roundhay Park is among the biggest city parks in Europe, covering more than 700 acres. It attracts more than one million visitors a year.
