Lifeboat crew responds to Boxing Day callout in the River Humber
A team of lifeboat volunteers have responded to a call out on Boxing Day.
Humber Rescue was called out at around 2pm on December 26. The team launched their lifeboat into conditions including fog and low visibility to assist with an incident near the River Humber.
Crews worked with HM Coastguard Hornsea and Hull Coastguard Rescue Team to conduct a search.
They searched for just under two hours before being stood down.
Dave Roberts, Chairman of Humber Rescue, said, “This Boxing Day callout highlights the extraordinary dedication of our volunteer crew.
"While most people were enjoying the festive period, our team demonstrated once again that they are always ready to respond, regardless of the day or time. Their professionalism ensured that this incident was brought to a positive resolution.”
He added: “Humber Rescue operates entirely through the generosity of our supporters. Every donation ensuresthat we can continue to be on call 24/7, even during holiday celebrations, to keep people safe on and around the water. We’re incredibly proud of our volunteers and grateful for the community that enables us to carry out this essential work.”
The Boxing Day callout marks the 115th callout for Humber Rescue this year.
