Chris Kamara to return to live broadcasting two years after quitting due to speech problem
Chris Kamara is set to return to live broadcasting two years after he left his job as a football pundit due to a speech disorder.
Kamara will report for Amazon on Nottingham Forest's game with Tottenham Hotspur on Boxing Day, with former Sky Sports colleague Jeff Stelling in the studio.
In a post on X, Kamara said: "Best phone call ever this afternoon inviting me to do the Forest v Spurs game on Boxing Day, reporting back to the Unbelievable Jeff Stelling in the studio.
"I thought I was done, so it’s a big thank you Amazon. I’m back."
In a reply Stelling wrote: “And I am looking forward to it as much as you mate."
Kamara, who is affectionately known to millions as "Kammy", played for Leeds United, Sheffield United and Bradford City before becoming a much-loved broadcaster.
He presented Soccer Saturday with Stelling and became well known for his signature saying "unbelievable, Jeff!"
In March 2022 Kamara, who is originally from Middlesbrough, revealed he had speech apraxia, a neurological disorder, after television viewers noticed him slurring his words on air.
He quit his job with Sky Sports following the diagnosis, but has continued to work in television and radio.
The 66-year-old travelled to Mexico to take part in clinical trials and has been able to continue with pre-recorded voiceover work as well as podcasts.
