Sheffield firearms company boss who covertly filmed women in bathroom jailed

South Yorkshire Police said firearms should be in the hands of 'morally sound citizens'.

A firearms dealer has been jailed after he was found with extreme pornography and covert videos of women filmed in a bathroom.

Police seized Daniel Valmont's laptop from his home in Rotherham in 2022 after reports were made that he had been sending sexual communications.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "During searches of Valmont’s devices, extreme pornography, including beastiality and voyeuristic videos, where he had filmed women secretly while in the bathroom."

Valmont, who ran Sheffield-based Valmont Firearms, claimed the videos had been filmed accidentally after he forgot to take the cameras out of bathrooms when he recorded himself.

He had his weapons seized. The licence for the business - described online as a "family run business...aiming to give a fun, friendly and excellent service to the shooting public" - was revoked.

Valmont was charged with voyeurism and possessing indecent images of bestiality.

He pleaded guilty and was jailed for 42 weeks and given a ten-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

Investigating officer Julie Cooper said: "Firearms can have devastating consequences and should only be in the hands of responsible, upstanding, and morally sound citizens.

“We have strict processes in place to ensure that those in possession, handling and selling firearms are of a sound judgement and a fit and proper person, and Valmont’s actions show he does not reflect this.

“Valmont’s actions have caused his victim distress and ruined his own life; he now faces prison and has lost his job and livelihood.”
