Huddersfield Town owner Kevin Nagle hints at Hollywood involvement

'An eternity': Town owner Kevin Nagle's first 18 months in charge

Huddersfield Town owner Kevin Nagle has hinted that he could seek celebrity involvement in the club, saying: "The bottom line is you could always bring Hollywood to England."

Town sit just below Wrexham and Birmingham City in League One, both of whom have high-profile owners and investors.

Wrexham are owned by actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, while Birmingham chairman is American hedge fund chief Tom Wagner.

Seven-time Super Bowl winner Tom Brady is also an advisor at the Midlands club.

American businessman Nagle told ITV News he "wouldn't rule out" seeking similar big name support, including from legendary actor Patrick Stewart, who is arguably Town's most famous fan.

"He's one of my favourites, we speak frequently," Nagle said.

On the possibility of Stewart taking up an official role, Nagle said: "It's not out of the question. It's always good to have at least having some cheerleading coming from Hollywood."

Nagle, who co-founded healthcare company EnvisionRx and has a stake in California-based Sacramento Republic FC and basketball team Sacramento Kings, completed a full takeover of Huddersfield in June 2023.

The club were relegated from the Championship at the end of last season, but are unbeaten in nine league games and sit fourth.

Speaking to ITV News at a club foundation event, Nagle said the last 18 months had felt like an "eternity". He added: "It really has been fantastic. There's been a little bit of everything - a little bit of humility, a lot of pride. I'm most excited about the future.

"At the beginning there was not a lot we could do, we got relegated unfortunately. I knew there was going to be better days, I knew we would be able to survive long term. We're in a playoff position, we're going to fight for automatic."

He described British football as "the gold standard" and said American interest in the game was understandable.

"We love English people," he said.

Nagle, who is 70 years old, credits his passion for life the main reason he is still working and says his ultimate goal with Huddersfield is to take them back to the Premier League.

When asked to sum up his ambitions for the next few years he says: "we're going to represent Huddersfield as best we can, and hopefully bring a championship back to huddersfield so we can make our community proud."
