Farsley Celtic captain Lewis Turner 'conscious' after cardiac arrest against Gateshead
Farsley Celtic captain Lewis Turner is "conscious and talking" after suffering a suspected cardiac arrest during their FA Trophy tie against Gateshead.
The match was abandoned after Turner went down in the 28th minute, with Gateshead leading 1-0.
The 32-year-old received attention on the pitch, before being rushed to hospital in an ambulance.
Farsley released a statement saying: "it is with great relief and happiness that we can report that Lewis is conscious and talking."
The club praised "the superb professional work by the medical staff and paramedics" who resuscitated Turner.
They added: "Incidents like this put life into context and we hope you will all join us in wishing Lewis and his family all the very best and we look forward to seeing him again soon."
Turner has been at Farsley Celtic since 2017 after coming through the Leeds United academy.
His former club posted on X: "The thoughts of everyone at LUFC are with Lewis at this time and we're all wishing him a speedy recovery."
