Trial date set for Mansfield man charged with murdering woman in e-bike crash
A man accused of murdering a mother-of-one by allegedly ramming her off an e-bike before fleeing the scene is due to go on trial next year.
Keaton Muldoon, 23, is charged with the murder of 25-year-old Alana Armstrong and the attempted murder of Jordan Newton-Kay.
He is also charged with driving while disqualified in connection with the alleged hit-and-run incident in Batley Lane, Pleasley, Derbyshire, on November 26.
Mr Muldoon, of Tuckers Lane, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, appeared at Derby Crown Court by video link from HMP Nottingham on Monday, speaking only to confirm his name.
Judge Shaun Smith set the trial date for 19 May next year at the same court.
Derbyshire Police said Ms Armstrong, a mother to a six-year-old boy and from Tibshelf, was a passenger on Mr Newton-Kay's e-bike when she was knocked off. She died at the scene.
Police said a dark-coloured 4×4 vehicle allegedly followed two e-bikes before ramming one of them.
Mr Newton-Kay had to have part of his leg amputated after the collision.
Officers have since recovered a dark-blue Land Rover Discovery, and launched an appeal on Friday to find the person who left a note on the windscreen while it was parked in Mansfield overnight on 26 November.
The judge told Muldoon, who wore a grey hoodie: “Mr Muldoon, I’m remanding you back into custody. The next time you are due before the court is a long way away.”
The judge said the trial was expected to last two to three weeks.
