Ian White joins ITV News Calendar as new co-presenter after leaving BBC

Former BBC presenter Ian White is to join ITV News Calendar as the programme's new permanent co-host.

Ian, who has almost 25 years of experience working as a presenter and reporter at BBC Look North in Yorkshire, will anchor Calendar's 6pm programme alongside Lara Rostron, who joined in April.

He said: "I’m very excited to be joining ITV News to present Calendar. It will be fantastic to share the studio with Lara again having presented together in the past at the BBC. 

"It’s going to be a privilege to be invited into the homes of ITV Calendar viewers, and I’m sure there will be lots of fun to be had along the way too. I love this part of the world and I’m looking forward to meeting our viewers when I’m out and about."

Ian’s work in television began when he worked for TV-am in Newcastle. 

His career at the BBC spanned almost 30 years, starting in Norwich, followed by BBC Radio  Leeds and then BBC Look North. He presented his final BBC Look North bulletin last month.  

Ian, who lives in West Yorkshire, has reported on some of the region’s biggest news stories since the mid-nineties and presented hundreds of regional programmes at the BBC.

In his new role Ian will co-present two regional editions of ITV Calendar at 6pm with Lara Rostron. Weather presenter Kerrie Gosney completes a new-look presenting team. 

Lara said: "I’m looking forward to working with Ian again as we start a new chapter together on ITV Calendar. He’s a great presenter who is passionate about our region. I know he will

soon become a firm favourite with our viewers."

Ian added: "I’ve always been a keen viewer of ITV Calendar and admire the talented team of journalists and technical experts who work so hard to bring the audience a first class news service every day."

Head of News at ITV Calendar, Mark Hayman, said: "We’re delighted Ian is joining the ITV Calendar family. He’s a much loved and respected presenter and he brings decades of experience telling the stories that matter to viewers in our region."

Ian will present his first programmes on ITV Calendar on 14 November.
