Wind turbine fire sees smoke billow across Hull
Smoke billowed across Hull as firefighters were sent to tackle a blaze at a wind turbine in the city.
Dramatic pictures showed flames in the centre of the turbine on Oak Road Fields, between Clough Road and Sutton Fields.
Lewis Scott, who took a number of pictures, tweeted: "Wind turbine in North Hull in a major bother this morning - huge fire, and looks to be falling apart. Acrid black smoke drifting east across the city."
Humberside Fire and Rescue said it received a number of calls about the blaze and crews were on the scene.
The fire eventually self-extinguished, but a cordon remained in place at the site.
The 125m turbine is thought to be the oldest in the city, having been granted planning approval in May 2007. It was erected in a year later in 2008.
