Those who lost loved ones during the pandemic in our region say they're outraged at the news of an alleged lockdown Christmas party at Downing Street last year.

The Government is under increasing pressure tonight to reveal exactly what happened last December, after a video was leaked showing a mock press briefing, with staff members laughing and joking about a party of sorts at Number 10.

It has led to anger from those who were forced to distance themselves from their loved ones at the height of lockdown restrictions.

Jayne Taylor-Broadbent lost her wife Julie in last year's lockdown. In Hull today (8 December), she shared her reaction to the Downing Street video.

In Sheffield there was dismay and anger - Mike McCarthy's son Ross took his own life in February.

Mike McCarthy's son Ross died during a national lockdown in February 2021.

At a vaccine centre in Sheffield, people say if the party did happen that it was "out and out wrong".

At Prime Minister's questions today, Boris Johnson said he had launched an investigation into what had happened.

Many Tory MPs, including Conservative Great Grimsby MP Lia Nici, fumed at the distraction this has caused.
