Hundreds of protesters take to Yorkshire streets in climate change marches
Hundreds of people from across the region joined the demonstration for climate justice today - as part of a global day of action coinciding with the COP26 conference taking place in Glasgow.
Max Johnson from Doncaster travelled to Scotland for the event. He said it was important to be there to show support.
Marches also happened in York, Leeds and Sheffield - as well around the rest of the UK. Those attending the rally in Devonshire Green were keen to echo the message that now is the time to act.
The rallies come after thousands of youth activists, including Greta Thunberg and Vanessa Nakate marched through Glasgow on Friday protesting against investment in fossil fuels and failure to tackle the climate crisis.
Ms Thunberg called the Cop26 conference, where countries are meeting in a bid to increase ambition on cutting greenhouse gas emissions, ” a global north greenwash festival, a two-week long celebration of business as usual and blah blah blah”.
