Both sides of the motorway were subsequently closed after Highways England reported that "traffic officers are currently dealing with a single vehicle accident including 2 loose cows in the carriage way.

"All Traffic will be diverted off and can re join via the entry slip."

South Yorkshire Police attended the scene, which initially caused by an accident.
