Hull care home worker 'heartbroken' at having to leave job due to Covid vaccine
Video report by Frazer Maude
A Hull care home worker says she is "heartbroken" at having to leave her job, because of her decision not to be vaccinated against coronavirus.
Louise Akester, who has 14 years of experience in her line of work, has concerns over the long term safety of covid vaccines.
A new condition of employment in England requires all workers in registered care homes to be double vaccinated by mid November, unless they are exempt. The government says it is their responsibility to reduce the risk for vulnerable people.
The Care Quality Commission which regulates the industry said last week that there could be a "tsunami of unmet need" in care services due to staff pressures.
The deadline is November the 11th.
Only then will the true impact on staffing levels, and the quality of care within nursing homes, become apparent.
