Naz Shah: Woman changes plea and admits threatening Bradford MP
A woman accused of sending threatening emails to Bradford's Labour MP, Naz Shah has admitted the charges.
Sundas Alam, 30, of Princeville Street, Bradford, had denied three charges of sending malicious communications.
She had also denied perverting the course of justice but changed her pleas to guilty.
Alam was remanded in custody and is due to be sentenced on 29 November at York Crown Court.
Responding to the plea, Naz Shah said:“Having lost two colleagues in the space of 5 years, death threats are close to home. I welcome the review of security measures for MP’s that the Home Secretary has committed to.”
She added: “I’d like to thank West Yorkshire Police, particularly DC Exley and DC Young, for their work on this investigation and their support to my family, my staff team and myself.”“I will continue to represent my constituents of Bradford West to the best of my ability. Serving the public is an honour and a duty, and I, like every single other MP in the U.K, will not allow to anyone distract us from this.”
