Harrogate Town celebrate historic promotion with open-top bus tour

Crowds cheer Harrogate Town players celebrating first time in Football League open top bus

Harrogate Town footballers have celebrated their historic promotion to the Football League with an open-top bus parade - at one point being upstaged by a bride who halted the tour for pictures.

Kirsty Mallaby-Chapman from Harrogate had just tied the knot with hubby Christopher at the Yorkshire Hotel.

Players and staff were on the bus for a 35 minute tour of the spa town starting and finishing at the club's CNG stadium.

Harrogate secured promotion last weekend at Wembley stadium with a 3-1 victory over Notts County in the playoff finals. The 106-year-old club has never been in the football league before.

The club took the decision not to stop the bus at any point in order to avoid crowds gathering.
