Emergency services urge people to download 'life saving' what3words app
David Hirst reports
Emergency services say lives across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire are being saved by the use of new mobile technology called What3Words.
It helps locate people who are lost or involved in an accident. It works by dividing the world up into three metre squares, giving each one a unique three word address in order for people to be easily found.
So if you get lost, or get into difficulty in a remote area you can use the app to share your exact location with the emergency services.
A campaign this week is urging more people to get the app.
Humberside Police were also encouraging people to download the app tweeting: 'being able to give your precise location in an emergency can save vital time and lives.'
