Three men have been jailed for the manslaughter of Rotherham man, Daniel Dix, who died after a fight following a football match in March last year.

Mr Dix was assaulted at Bridgegate in Rotherham town centre after a match between Sheffield United and Rotherham United at Bramall Lane on the afternoon of Saturday 9 March 2019.

CCTV footage showed Beech punching Mr Dix to the ground, causing him to lose consciousness. Playforth and Green were then seen kicking Mr Dix while he was on the floor.

The 38-year-old died a week later in hospital as a result of his injuries.

Kyle Beech, 27, of Maltby, Brock Playforth, 26, of North Anston, and Liam Green, 23, of Maltby, were sentenced on Tuesday 7 July at Sheffield Crown Court.

All three men were found guilty of manslaughter on 19 March this year, after a three week trial at Sheffield Crown Court.

Playforth was also found guilty of attempted grievous bodily harm and Beech was also convicted of affray. Green and Playforth had admitted affray at an earlier hearing.

Beech was jailed for nine years and Green was jailed for six years.

Playforth was sentenced to eight years in custody and must serve an additional three years on licence.

Still awaiting sentencing are Corey Andrews, 25, of Maltby, Sam Anscombe, 28, of Ollerton, Brady Stoner, 23, of Maltby; and Josh Simpson, 24, of Maltby, who all pleaded guilty to affray at an earlier hearing in September last year.
