West Yorkshire Police says it has concluded its investigation into expenses claims made by former Welcome to Yorkshire boss Sir Gary Verity and that no action will be taken.

He resigned from the tourism agency last year.

The force confirmed that it had met with representatives of Welcome to Yorkshire and they had been notified of the decision.

In July last year, West Yorkshire Police said it was looking at a report into expense claims at Yorkshire's tourism agency.

Accountancy firm BDO LLP was asked to produce the report following the resignation of Sir Gary Verity as the boss of Welcome to Yorkshire on health grounds in March 2019.

But West Yorkshire Police have now confirmed the investigation is closed.
