Halifax music student diagnosed with cancer hopes dream to meet American rock guitar legend Steve Vai comes true

The family and friends of a music student from Halifax, who has been diagnosed with cancer, have come together to make his dream of meeting his American idol come true.

Doctors told Ewan Gentle, 17, in April that he had mature T-cell lymphoma and that a cancerous tumour had wrapped around his spinal cord. He has since been in lockdown at Leeds General Infirmary with his dad by his side.

In a show of solidarity Ewan's stepmum and friends started the 'Ewan, you ROCK!' campaign.

They shaved off their heads for charity and have already raised more than £10,000 for Ewan to travel to America and meet rock guitar legend Steve Vai in his music studio.

Some of the cash will also go to the Teenage Cancer Trust.
