Hull man charged with terrorism offences

A 31 year-old man from Hull has been charged with two offences of Encouraging Terrorism (contrary to Section 1 of the Terrorism Act 2006) following an incident in the city on Saturday morning.

The man, who has not been named, has been remanded in custody and will appear at Leeds Magistrates Court tomorrow, Thursday 18 June.

Police say the man was arrested on the morning of Saturday 13 June on suspicion of affray and possession of an offensive weapon.

He was further arrested on suspicion of offences under Section 41 of the Terrorism Act that evening.
