First of Emmerdale 'lockdown' episodes on air

The first of six episodes of Emmerdale filmed during lockdown will air tonight (Monday June 8th). A reduced cast and crew have worked on them over the last fortnight.

The two actors back on screen in the first episode are James Hooton and Karen Blick, who play Newlyweds Sam and Lydia Dingle.

Emmerdale resumed filming for a series of special lockdown instalments - which will see the coronavirus pandemic and lockdown measures incorporated into the soap's narrative.

In creating the lockdown programmes, major changes in production had to be imposed to keep everyone safe.

Social distancing measures in place on the set

Filming has changed drastically with social distancing measures in place on set, including a two meter pole that is branded to make sure that when directors set up shots there is social distancing in place.

Other episodes include those featuring Jeff Hordley who plays Cain Dingle and Danny Miller who plays his nephew Aaron Dingle.
