End of ground-breaking project could see Salmon return to River Don for first time in 200 years
Salmon could soon be spawning in South Yorkshire's River Don for the first time in 200 years after a fish pass was built in Masborough near Rotherham.
It completes a 20 year programme to remove obstructions along the river.
Salmon can finally swim from the North Sea upstream to the spawning grounds.
The fish returned to the river in the 1990s with catches reported in Doncaster and Sheffield.
