Cannabis seized after strong-smelling car stopped in North Yorkshire
North Yorkshire Police has seized a large amount of cannabis after a pungent car was stopped on the A64 near Tadcaster.
At around 5.30pm on Tuesday 19 May, a white Ford Fiesta drove past an unmarked Rural Taskforce vehicle on the westbound carriageway of the A64.
Officers decided to follow the car after detecting a strong smell of cannabis as it drove past them.
They stopped the car close to the A162 junction and found several bags of cannabis inside. A 24-year-old man from Wakefield was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis and interviewed.
He has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
