Sharing the missed 'rites of passage' during lockdown
Young people who are missing out on all kinds of 'rites of passage' during lockdown have been encouraged to 'open up' and share their experiences through an innovative dance project during Mental Health Awareness Week.
Disappointment at missing out on graduations, school proms, long-awaited summer travel plans, driving tests - and hugs - have been shared by those taking part in an online workshop held by Yorkshire-based dance company Northern Rascals.
The company's own plans were put on hold when the pandemic hit - directors Anna Holmes and Sam Ford were due to begin a new creation looking at mental health among the young.
So instead they took their project online, through Zoom and Instagram to reach young people from across the UK in a three day virtual intensive looking at the effects of isolation on young people.
