Doncaster care home ‘drive-thru’ lets families finally see relatives

A care home in Doncaster has come up with a way of allowing residents to see their relatives and still remain safe from Covid-19.

It has been weeks since lockdown began and for some of those in care homes, it means they have been unable to have any contact with relatives.

With no cases of Covid-19 at the Dunniwood Lodge in Bessacarr, staff at the care home decided the car park would be the perfect place for relatives to catch up at a safe distance.

Workers brought residents to the entrance of the home, whilst family members drove past in cars, in a 'drive-thru' style meeting.

Joanne Booker is a Manager at Dunniwood Lodge and helped to organise the visits.
