Hull KR reserve player Jordan Cox has died suddenly aged 27

The Hull Kingston Rovers reserve player Jordan Cox has died at the age of 27.

The Rugby League Benevolent Fund announced the news of Cox's death, saying it occurred "at home, in Hull, in circumstances believed to be non-suspicious and not related to the current public health situation."

Cox started his career with hometown club Hull KR and went on to play for Warrington, Sheffield, York and Doncaster.

Hull Kingston Rovers Hull published a statement on their website:

"Kingston Rovers are deeply shocked and devastated by the news of the sudden loss of Jordan Cox.

"He died at home in Hull, in circumstances believed to be non-suspicious and not related to the current public health situation.

"Jordan has been a regular part of the Hull KR story in recent years, having progressed through the academy and into the senior Super League squad.

"After a spell away Jordan returned to the club in 2020 and at the time of his death was a part of our reserves squad.

"He was hugely popular with team mates, sponsors and supporters for his lively character.

Hull Kingston Rovers owner Neil Hudgell paid tribute to Jordan.

Jordan made 64 first team appearances for the club, scoring 6 tries.

The RFL Benevolent Fund are supporting Jordan’s family at this difficult time.
