Ben White reaches out to young Leeds fan who offered to pay towards his permanent transfer
Defender Ben White has reached out to a young Leeds United supporter who offered to pay towards his permanent transfer to the Elland Road club from Brighton.
Five-year-old Daniel Auton wrote to Brighton over the weekend, offering his total piggy bank savings of £15.07 towards the permanent transfer of his favourite player.
White, 22, has impressed at Leeds since joining the club on a season-long loan deal in July last year.
In a letter to Brighton chief executive Paul Barber, Daniel asked if he would allow Leeds to "please please please buy Ben at the end of the season".
He went on to say: "I have counted all my pennies in my piggy bank and I have £15.07 if this helps."
The letter was put on social media by Brighton over the weekend along with a response, in which Mr Barber said that White was part of the club's future plans and as a result would not be leaving the AMEX Stadium on a permanent deal.
Daniel's gesture has, however, been acknowledged by Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani who said the club would top up the offer, and White himself urged the young fan's family to get in touch with him.
