There are calls for the Government to use our region's textile factories to make urgent safety kit amid growing warnings that medics and frontline workers are being left exposed to the virus.
Ministers say there is a global shortage of equipment like gowns, but one local MP says our manufacturers have the ability to produce the right kit if the Government steps in.

On Friday, the government updated its guidance on PPE, advising healthcare workers to reuse gowns or wear different kit, such as plastic aprons with coveralls, if stocks run low in England.
