Ten fire crews put out Marsden Moor blaze

A large moorland fire covering 2km burned near Huddersfield yesterday evening. The fire broke out near to Deer Hill Reservoir.

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said at its peak it had ten fire engines at the scene to combat the blaze.

At around 8.30pm the fire service reported that the blaze had been extinguished. Crew members spent the night 'damping down' and monitoring hotspots.

Last month firefighters had to put out a fire at the same location. The service are reminding people to #StayHome to save lives.
