Police in Derbyshire create drawing competition for youngsters staying indoors
Youngsters in the Clay Cross area are invited to create a poster to help the police, North East Derbyshire District Council and Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service deliver the ‘stay at home’ message, and there are prizes for the best ones.
All they need to do is to come up with a poster which shares the current government guidance to help reduce the spread of the Coronavirus.
The current guidelines say people should stay at home, except for:
Shopping for basic necessities, for example food and medicine, which must be as infrequent as possible
One form of exercise a day, for example a run, walk, or cycle - alone or with members of your household
Any medical need, including to donate blood, avoid or escape risk of injury or harm, or to provide care or to help a vulnerable person
Travelling for work purposes, but only where you cannot work from home
Posters should be as colourful as possible, and displayed in a window facing the street, by Monday 6 April.
Parents should then message the team via their Facebook page, www.facebook.com/ClayCrossSNT, to let them know their address.
Officers will then pass by each of the houses while on their patrols, and winners will be picked by a panel of judges which include: Faye Green, Community Safety Manager for North East Derbyshire District Council, Chris Lofley, Community Safety Manager for Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service, PC Tenielle Hardwick and PCSO Mario Montisci.
There are a total of 30 prizes for the best entries, thanks to kind donations of chocolate Easter eggs and bunnies from our local Tesco and Aldi stores.
PC Tenielle Hardwick of the Clay Cross Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team is helping to run the competition. She said:
