Raided Knottingley food bank gets back on track thanks to donations
A food bank in Knottingley that was forced to close after thieves stole vital supplies has been inundated with offers of help.
Raiders smashed their way into the premises at Tythe Barn Road in the early hours of Wednesday March 18, 2020 and took around £600 of supplies including shampoo, shower gels and feminine hygiene products.
The local MP, Yvette Cooper, said she was truly appalled by the crime and appealed for help to try to stop the centre from closing.
Members of the public and business community responded to the appeal and began donating supplies to the food bank which first opened its door in 2013.
The Co-Op at Askern in Doncaster has this morning (Tuesday March 24, 2020) provided seven trucks of food to help restock shelves.
