Newark cattle market shut down in rent row

Newark's cattle market which has been operating since medieval times, has been shut down in a rent row.

The district council say they are mindful of the importance of the market to the local community and are considering alternative arrangements for it to continue.

Farmers will now have to travel an extra 40 miles to the nearest markets at Bakewell, Selby or Melton. Adam Fowler reports.
