Rest of today:A cold day with sunny spells and scattered showers. These will be heavy at times, with many falling as a mix of rain and hail with snow settling on higher ground. Strong, cold winds throughout, especially over the Pennines. Maximum temperature 6 °C.
Tonight:The showery theme will continue through this evening and overnight. Some showers may merge into longer spells of rain through the early hours, again with snow above about 150m. Chilly in the wind. Minimum temperature 1 °C.
Tuesday:Another windy day with blustery showers, many turning wintry over the hills. These will be interspersed by bright or sunny spells. Feeling cold, especially in and around the showers. Maximum temperature 5 °C.
Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:After a frosty start, Wednesday will be cold with sunny spells and frequent snow showers over the hills. Turning wet thereafter as rain arrives through Thursday. Remaining windy throughout.Met Office warnings here
