Thousands of holidaymakers in region not covered by travel insurance

There are plans to help thousands of people across the region who've been treated for a serious illness and are finding it really hard to find affordable travel insurance.

A special list of insurers could be set up.

It's thought more than one and a half million holidaymakers with pre-existing conditions head overseas each year - with a policy which excludes their illness.
