Man charged with assault on former Leeds manager & player Gary McAllister

A 33 year old man has been charged with attacking former Leeds United manager and player Gary McAllister.

Damien Swan from Beeston will appear before magistrates on Wednesday accused of assaulting McAllister in March last year.

McAllister who also captained the Elland Road side was treated in hospital after he was allegedly punched in the face outside a bar on Call Lane at around 4am on March 24th 2019.

The Scottish international played in Leeds from 1990 to 1996, a period which saw them become champions of the former First Division in 1992.

He then took over as manager in 2008 and led the club to the League One Play off final.

The 55 year old is now the assistant manager to Steven Gerrard at Glasgow Rangers.
