Pair arrested after dog found drowning in river released under investigation
A man and a woman arrested after a dog was found drowning in the River Trent have been released under investigation.
The Belgian Shepherd, called Bella according to her microchip, was tied to a heavy rock at Farndon near Newark and hauled to safety by a member of the public. She is said to be making a good recovery and is in the care of local vets.
A 32-year old man and 31-year old woman were arrested on Monday on suspicion of animal cruelty offences in connection with the incident, but have since been released.
