Train services resume at Leeds station after major improvement work
All train services have resumed at Leeds station today after Network Rail completed the next stage of a major project to improve services for passengers.
Between Christmas day and Monday, 30 December, a 450-strong workforce continued on the construction of Platform Zero. The new platform is due to be in operation by the end of 2021.
Network Rail has released time-lapse footage showing the work which took place over Christmas.
Platform Zero is part of £161m investment in the rail infrastructure at Leeds. Network Rail say the new platform will allow more trains into the station, and provide better connections for Yorkshire. The increased station capacity is hoped to reduce delays.
