Lionel Richie to headline first ever York Festival
Music legend Lionel Richie has been confirmed as the headline act for a new music festival to be held in York.
The four-time Grammy Award-winner will perform a hit-packed concert that covers his much-loved repertoire.
The event, which also features Westlife and Madness, will take place at York Sports Club in Clifton Park in June 2020. Pop group All Saints, Sophie Ellis Bextor and band Scouting for Girls will also be performing at the summer music festival.
The three-day festival is backed by the team who famously brought Britney Spears to Scarborough Open Air Theatre in 2018.
Welcoming the York Festival line-up, managing director of Make it York said:
"York Festival will be a brilliant addition to the city’s already busy calendar of summer events for both residents and visitors to enjoy. Welcoming such music legends and chart-topping artists, as well as showcasing local talent, is another step forward for York’s cultural offer and we are delighted to help spread the word to audiences.”
