The Red Arrows fly the flag Stateside

They are the public face of the Royal Air Force and this summer has seen the Red Arrows embark on the aerobatic team's largest overseas deployment in a generation.

Based at RAF Scampton in Lincolnshire, they have taken their dramatic display to North America, showing off the best of British in Canada and the United States.

For the past 11 weeks the team has travelled coast to coast on a mission that aimed to promote Britain, strengthen ties across the pond and inspire a few crowds along the way.

There were also surprises in store, with one pilot proposing while on the tour.
